Pope Jams: Can't Stop Won't Stop

Pope Benedict XVI resigns today, and the tributes are rolling in.

The New Yorker's satire column posted a story about an imaginary Oakland rapper named Pope Emeritus threatening to sue retiring pope Benedict XVI for trademark infringement. Bonus points for author Andy Borowitz resurrecting the word "wack." Read it here.

The New Yorker (which must have some Catholic staffers) also put together a list of songs about the Pope, including the dusty Prince track "Pope" and The Damned's classic "Anti-Pope."

And does anyone else remember when the Vatican included Tupac's "Changes" on its official MySpace music playlist? At least Pope Benedict was down with Pac.
