Poets Jericho Brown and Dexter L. Booth

When: Fri., May 24, 7-8 p.m. 2019
Poet Jericho Brown has been making big moves for years, but is just now being recognized by greater public. The Cave Canem poet has won the American Book Award and the Whiting Award, his 2014 book The New Testament won the Anisfield-Wolf Book Award, and he was given a Guggenheim Fellowship in 2016. His new book, The Tradition (Copper Canyon Press), makes the political personal and the personal political by addressing broad subjects (fatherhood, legacy, blackness, queerness, worship, and trauma) with intimate precision. Brown will be joined by fellow Cave Canem poet Dexter L. Booth, reading from his new collection, Scratching the Ghost, a profound rumination on loss, redemption, and growth.
