Phil Cousineau

When: Thu., Feb. 20, 7:30 p.m. 2014
Full disclosure: As I write this, it’s 2:31 a.m. Not entirely fun, but at least I’m part of a long tradition of night owls and insomniacs and midnight-oil-burners including Beethoven and Borges and a host of other creatives who apparently had a fraught relationship with sleep. It’s a history that Phil Cousineau, who’ll read this week at Mrs. Dalloway’s (2904 College Ave., Berkeley), documents via poetry, prose, and reflections collected from famous insomniacs in his new anthology, Burning the Midnight Oil: Illuminating Words for the Long Night’s Journey Into Day. Finally, a book you won’t feel guilty staying up late to read.
