As Bob Strayer points out, the sheer ridiculousness of Greg Davis' position is driven home almost at the beginning of the article when he sings the praises of the noxious weed French broom. Here is a plant that has reduced millions of acres of native landscape to a French broom monoculture, and costs homeowners and taxpayers many millions of dollars annually in increased brush removal costs.

According to Davis, it is a horrible environmental sin to apply a relatively benign herbicide like glyphosate under any circumstances (apparently, Roundup = Agent Orange in this fellow's book), but no problem to lose our native landscape and biodiversity to aggressive invasive weeds like French broom. I suppose because the latter can be construed as "natural" in some way. I would suggest if Mr. Davis is really worried about dogmatism in environmental policy, he might have a closer look at this "naturalness" dogma he seems to have fallen into.
