Persistence of Light at Vessel Gallery

With a new calendar comes new possibilities. Whether you decide to make New Year’s resolutions or actually stick to them, the mere concept proves our innate optimism, hope for positive change, and attraction to light. Vessel Gallery will explore these ideas with its exhibit Persistence of Light, which opens on Friday with new works from three artists. Through three separate installations, Cheryl Calleri portrays the physical properties of light as well as its symbolic qualities. Meanwhile, the ethereal nature of light is evident in Irene Imfeld’s depictions of clouds. And finally, Ron Weil explores gradients of light through his charcoal and graphite drawings. With reflections and refractions, the exhibit creates a quiet, meditative art experience and start to 2018. Return at 8 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 26, for an artist talk with Calleri and live music by The Haydn Enthusiasts.
