This Thursday evening at the New Parish, you can get your weekend started early with some soulful hip-hop. Pep Love from the legendary Hieroglyphics crew will be performing alongside a few next-generation artists including Detroit native Denmark Vessey. Vessey’s latest track, “Snowing in L.A.” was produced by Earl Sweatshirt and boasts an East Coast, old-school piano bounce with rhymes that map out metaphors. Between him and Marv Won, also from Detroit, the lyrical flow in the room will be just as heavy as the bass behind it. In Marv Won’s recent single, “Air Mattress,” he raps about his life and the struggle: being broke, coming up, and praying for change. This will be one of those few weeknights where you’re guaranteed dope raps, chill beats, and some really good vibes.

Thursday, July 6, 8pm, $25, 18+, Under 21 must buy $5 drink ticket at door, 1743 San Pablo Ave, Oakland, TheNewParish.com.
