Pendarvis Harshaw's OG Told Me at Oaklandish 

You can hardly get more East Bay than Pendarvis Harshaw. The Oakland native and UC Berkeley graduate (and occasional Express contributor) has been collecting life stories from elders in his hometown community for years and posting them on his blog. This Sunday, he’ll appear at Oaklandish’s downtown Oakland store to share the ear-candy wisdom from his new book, OG Told Me. Go ahead, grab a copy, and shoehorn great advice from local street philosophers like Randolph Cox, who told Harshaw to “pay close attention to anyone who looks like they have a level head,” and that “there’s nothing new under the sun.” Harshaw will lead a Q-and-A with one of the book’s participants at the book signing.
