Patrick Watson

When: Sun., June 10, 8 p.m. 2012
Price: $16, $19

If you're starved for the kind of floating, sullen soundtrack that resembles a Yann Tierson or Jon Brion piece, look no further than Patrick Watson. The Montreal-based recording artist specializes in helium-huffing fantasy folk,  the kind you'd get if Andrew Bird were to score a film about a psychedelic circus. Watson's music also has a fresh and innocent air to it, and his new album Adventuresin Your Own Backyard plays on the trope of simpler times to great effect. The album, dreamy and tonally rich, has been one of this spring's more underrated releases, and Watson is known for his fantastic live performances. East coast musician Cat Martino, who is a unique and captivating songwriter in her own right, will open at The Great American Music Hall (859 O'Farrell Street, San Francisco) on Sunday, June 10 at 8 p.m., $19,
