It's okay, Alameda administrators have lots of ways to squeeze every cent they can from citizens. Here are your tax dollars at work...

Alameda police arrested a woman on Thursday morning after they decided to watch people as they left the courthouse — where each was appearing on a charge that they had driven with a suspended license — to check whether the people were still driving.

The 46-year-old woman was pulled over in the 2200 block of Shore Line Drive, where police also impounded her white Ford Taurus.

The motorcycle officer wrote in his report that he "was participating in a court room sting operation to catch persons driving away from their court appearances for suspended license violations. Prior to responding, I had a list of persons scheduled to appear at 0900 hours on today's date. I also had photo copies of their DMV Cal photo images and a copy of their driving history."

The officer also said he received a phone call from another officer, saying the woman had just left Department 303 at the George E. McDonald Hall of Justice on Shore Line, where a traffic commissioner told her she was not to drive, and providing him with a description of what the woman was wearing.

It was not immediately available whether other motorists were arrested during the operation.
