Re: “Berkeley High May Cut Out Science Labs

Berkeley High School was considered a fine school for many years. Removing science from the curriculum will have implications far beyond what might appear at first glance. If someone wishes to further his or her education by attending a college or university, lack of high school level science would be a problem! For those who stop their formal education after high school, not having a small amount of science education leaves a huge knowledge gap. It was in general science that I learned never to mix bleach and ammonia; that you can make single acting baking powder by adding cream of tarter to baking soda. Simple life skills learned over 40 years ago and still quite handy to keep in mind today.
As a graduate of BHS I am appalled at this proposed “dumbing down” of the curriculum.
