Panel Discussion: "No Grocery Store in Sight"

When: Thu., Aug. 23, 7:30-9 p.m. 2012
Price: $5 donation

The East Bay may be a center for food justice and urban agriculture, but even a cursory walk through Richmond or West Oakland will reveal that we've got a long way to go toward ensuring that everyone has access to healthy food. On Thursday, Aug. 23, the Oakland branch of the Jewish Community Center of the East Bay (5811 Racine St., Oakland) hosts a panel discussion -- featuring a farmer, an academic, and representatives from some of the organizations that have made the East Bay's food-justice movement what it is today -- of the political and socioeconomic factors that make change so difficult. 7:30 p.m., $5 suggested donation. 510-595-9222 or JCCEastBay.org
