The Interrupters, a documentary by Steve James and Alex Kotlowitz, has been burning up festivals from Sundance to Sheffield. In conjunction with the film's run at Landmark Shattuck Cinemas, Kotlowitz joins community authorities and UC Berkeley education and public-health experts on Tuesday, Sept. 6, at the DavidBrowerCenter (2150 Allston Way, Berkeley) to talk about how communities -- like the Chicago one in the movie -- can stop violence. 7 p.m., free. 510-642-0137 or SteveCohen (at) berkeley.edu
