Pamela Rose

When: Sun., Nov. 1, 7 p.m. 2009
Price: $18-$22

Pamela Rose has been knocking out Bay Area audiences since she sang with Merl Saunders in 1977. A powerful vocal stylist and an original songwriter, she's at home with jazz, blues, R&B, rock, funk, soul, and pop standards, as well as her finely crafted original tunes. For the past few years, Rose has been devoting herself to research on the women songwriters of the Twenties. The result is her latest album, Wild Women of Song: Great Gal Composers of the Jazz Era, on her own label Three Handed Records. Her record release party at Yoshi's (1330 Fillmore St., San Francisco) is a multimedia presentation that will introduce the saga of yesterday's female songwriters using film, music, and spoken-word segments. Pamela Rose celebrates the Wild Women of Song on Sunday Nov. 1. 7 p.m., $18, $22. Yoshis.com
