Ozzy Osbourne w/ Slash

When: Thu., Feb. 3, 8 p.m. 2011
Price: $35.50, $55.50, $79.50

Slash's greatest claim to fame may have come as one-half of the dual guitar attack that made up Guns N'Roses. But he's also cobbled together an impressive post-G'N'R run that included loads of session work, and the band Velvet Revolver, which he conceived. And while he banged out a pair of albums with Slash's Snakepit along the way, last year's self-titled Slash was his first true solo outing. Working off a slew of songs he'd stockpiled, the top-hat-wearing guitarist reached out to a wide-ranging span of musical talents, including Ian Astbury, Fergie,Kid Rock, Iggy Pop, and Ozzy Osborne. The result was a surprisingly listenable batch of songs that never capsizes under the weight of ego or oversized expectations. And while I think Josh Tyrangiel needs to have his head examined after placing Slash second on his Time Magazine list of "The 10 Greatest Electric-Guitar Players" list, the man born Saul Hudson will undoubtedly bring the noise, especially if headliner Prince of Darkness ends up duetting with Slash when they hit the stage on Thursday, Feb. 3 at the HP Pavilion (525 Santa Clara St., San Jose) 8 p.m. $33.50, $55.50, $79.50.
