Horror, Suspense/Thriller
In One Missed Call, folks begin dropping dead shortly after getting voicemails from their future selves, calling from the moment of their actual deaths. The idea itself isn’t bad, but this J-horror remake of Chakushin Ari is. In fact, the only way One Missed Call, which stars Shannyn Sossamon as a college student and Ed Burns as a sympathetic detective, could get worse is if you got your own voice mail while watching it that said, “You have brain cancer. Stop buying tickets to crap like this!” Will somebody please tell producers to stop remaking foreign movies that were barely good to begin with simply to make a buck (87 min., 2008)?
