Okkon Pop-Up at Tacos Oscar

When: Tue., June 25, 6-10 p.m. 2019
Next Tuesday, Tacos Oscar will transform into a Japanese izakaya thanks to Okkon Japanese Street Food, an Oakland pop-up from husband and wife team Satoshi and Sachi Kamimae that specializes in the savory Japanese pancakes called okonomiyaki. The default version is made with mountain yam, cabbage, tempura, green onions, egg, and flour, plus strips of pork belly on top. Customers can customize their okonomiyaki with toppings like mentaiko roe, mushrooms, wild shrimp, or mochi. They’ll also be serving up gyoza. They’ll be joined by Illuminaage, a pop-up serving Japanese-style fried chicken wings and fried summer squash. For dessert, Adam Weiss will be scooping sesame ice cream. Tacos Oscar will be pouring Japanese beer and sake. While you’re eating, enjoy listening to live DJs. This event is all-ages and cash only.
