Obon Odori Practice Session

Buddha's disciple Mokuren is said to have danced for joy upon freeing his mother's spirit from the hungry ghosts' realm. His dance, ObonOdori, is recreated in Bon, Japanese Buddhists' annual festival honoring the dead. At Higashi Honganji Buddhist Temple (1524 Oregon St., Berkeley), all are welcome to join a June 25 ObonOdori practice session. 7:30 p.m. Bombu.org
