The two remaining public-employee unions ratified their contracts today, including the firefighters’ union, whose leader had expressed concern yesterday about his members possibly rejecting the deal, the Trib reports. The ratifications, however, are not yet complete until the city council also gives final approval of them. The last unions to ratify were SEIU Local 1021 and the firefighters, who voted 242-104 in favor of their new contract. The deals allow the city to avoid deep budget cuts to libraries, parks, arts funding, and tree maintenance.
