.Oakland Print Fair at FLAX Art & Design

Printmaking — the process of transferring ink from a matrix to paper or other material — includes a wide range of techniques, from woodcuts (which involves carving a design into wood and filling it with ink) to linocuts (which uses linoleum), etching (waxed metal), lithography (a flat surface like stone), and digital prints. In honor of printmaking, FLAX art & design will host its first-ever Oakland Print Fair on Oct. 14 and 15 to showcase local and international artists. The free outdoor event will include music by Tommy Guerrero, live printing, workshops, artist talks, and a crochet jam session hosted by Ramekon.

Saturday, Oct. 14 and Sunday, Oct. 15, 11 a.m., free, FLAX art & design, 1501 Martin Luther King Jr Way, Oakland, OaklandPrintFair.com
