Oakland Community Block Party Free One Day Only Staff Pick

When: Sat., Nov. 18, 12 p.m. 2017
Price: free
The California Endowment recently opened a permanent Oakland office, so it’s throwing a massive block party to celebrate its grand opening. It’s free, family-friendly, and chock-full of local music, art, and food. Native-American singers and dancers will start things off with a special opening ceremony, which will be followed by about a dozen sets from local bands, DJs, emcees, and other performers with a focus on hip-hop. Kev Choice, the illustrious rapper and pianist with a background in jazz and classical music, is on the bill along with Mistah F.A.B., Oakland’s prince of hyphy. EastSide Arts Alliance, Alena Museum, and the Scraper Bike Team will all provide interactive art exhibits. Even though entrance is free, RSVP-ing online may get you through the lines faster.
