Standup comic Brian Copeland's one-man show about growing up in one of the first African-American families in San Leandro, having moved there the year after it was named one of the most racist suburbs in America in 1971, Not a Genuine Black Man became the longest-running solo show in San Francisco history in its two-year stint at the Marsh, followed by a successful Off-Broadway run and print adaptation as a memoir last year. Now Copeland's wry, touching monologue is back, playing Thursdays to Saturdays through Dec. 30 at the Lesher Center for the Arts. LesherArtsCenter.org or 925-943-7469.
