Norm MacDonald

When: Fri., Sept. 19, 7:30 & 9:30 p.m. and Sat., Sept. 20, 7 & 9:30 p.m. 2008
Price: $30-$40

Best known as the news anchor in Saturday Night Live Weekend Update, Norm MacDonald has a real singular style of comedy. He's trained as a TV writer (MacDonald penned a few episodes of the 90s-era sitcom Roseanne) and thus has a quick-witted style of humor, full of sarcasm and quippy rejoinders. But the funniest thing about Norm MacDonald is his delivery. With his folksy Canadian accent (every other sentence ends in a query, "eh?"), MacDonald sounds either like a sportscaster on AM radio, or a barfly you might find in some provincial part of the northeast. He does the caricature so well that it's hard to tell what MacDonald would be like if you met him in a bar in real life. Norm MacDonald appears at Tommy T's Comedy & Steakhouse (5104 Hopyard Rd. in Pleasanton) Fri., Sept. 19th-Sat. Sept. 20th $30-$40.
