Noche de Bailar y Existir

When: Fri., Feb. 9, 8 p.m. 2018
Price: $10
Last November, the Express published a story on the lack of Latinx nights in Oakland. Since then, there has been a surge in the variety of music nights around The Town, and it’s especially refreshing to see a cumbia night at Eli’s. Noche de Bailar Y Existir, which will take place this Saturday, will have an array of sounds for your ears: Oakland band Mala Greña, San Francisco’s La Clandestina, and, directly from Watsonville, Pan Dulce. These three bands will keep you dancing with their fusion of cumbia, ska, and rock, and in between, DJ La Santa Diabla will be on the ones and twos. If you’re a fan of Latinx music and want to see more of these events in Oakland, then support the local bands, DJs, and promoters working their way into Oakland’s competitive nightlife. Plus, it’s almost Valentine’s Day and you never know — your future bae might be eager to dance some cumbia with you.
