Nigerian Independence Festival

When: Sat., Sept. 29, 1 p.m. 2018
Price: free
Nigeria’s 58th Independence Day is coming up, and thanks to Afropolitan SF, the Bay Area is shifting into high gear to celebrate all weekend long. From Oakland to San Francisco, the weekend will be packed with parties, picnics, and festivals. If there’s one event that stands out, though, it’s Saturday’s Nigerian Independence picnic and festival at Lake Merritt Amphitheater. The event runs all afternoon so you’ll have plenty of time to celebrate with music, fashion, special performances, and, of course, food, all while enjoying the views and serenity of Lake Merritt. The festival is the only all-ages and totally free event planned for the weekend so bring along family, friends, or anyone who would want to enjoy a delicious plate of jollof rice before making it down to the night’s official party at Oakland’s ESports Arena.
