Comedy, Romance
Hard-charging Miami corporate exec (Renée Zellweger) volunteers to move to a small Minnesota town to trim the dead wood off a snack food plant, but she didn’t figure on the “Minnesota nice” — nor the outdoorsy appeal of the studly local union rep (Harry Connick Jr.). Would you like some brownies with your weak lemonade? Zellweger and Connick create soft, fuzzy romantic sparks, but Ken Rance and C. Jay Cox’s cliché-filled screenplay could have been written by a beaver. Directed dully by Danish moveover Jonas Elmer, with comfy character support by Siobhan Fallon Hogan and J.K. Simmons (96 min.).
