While the Berkeley Festival & Exposition and concurrent Early Music Fringe Festival continue through June 8 (see, we wouldn't want to tout the same event two weeks in a row, would we? Therefore, attention is drawn to the New Century Chamber Orchestra, whose final concert of the season features the fine violinist Rachel Barton Pine, whose performances and recordings have been attracting considerable attention. Barton Pine plays Saint-Georges' Violin concerto in A major, plus George Walker's Lyric for Strings, Coleridge-Taylor Perkinson'sSinfonietta No. 2, Generations, and Brahms' irresistibly beautiful Sextet in B-flat Major, Op. 18. At St. John's Presbyterian Church, 2727 College Avenue, Berkeley on Friday, June 5 at 8 p.m.; $42-28, half price for students. or 415-357-1111.
