Action
The logistics are impossible and so are almost all the stunts – without CGI, this gearhead fantasy could never be made. But it’s great fun to watch million-dollar sports cars burst into chunks while humble mechanic/driver Aaron Paul and his new girlfriend Imogen Poots fall in love at the wheel of their super-rare Mustang. Stunt man/filmmaker Scott Waugh combines bits of The Cannonball Run, Fast & Furious, Smokey and the Bandit, and Gone in 60 Seconds for the old-fashioned story of street racers dashing across the continent, from Mount Kisco, New York to Mendocino via Detroit, Bonneville, and San Francisco, for a similarly illegal road race hosted by an over-heated Michael Keaton. Cops will hate it, natch. Written by John and George Gatins for a video game, and costarring Dominic Cooper, Scott Mescudi, and Harrison Gilbertson (130 min.).
