Credited with single-handedly creating the style that is the basis for nearly all modern surfing, having won his first of four surfing world championships in 1966, Australia's Nat Young is a legendary figure on beaches worldwide. At Diesel (5433 College Ave., Oakland) on Nov. 16, Young presents The Complete History of Surfing, his illustrated chronicle of everything from Hawaiian longboards to kitesurfing to wave pools to snowboarding (an offshoot of surfing) and beyond. To Young, surfing is not just a sport; it's an art form. 3 p.m.
