Re: “The Myth of the Unbiased Media

The unfortunate part in this report is that not all the candidates were covered which is a First Amendment Rights issue....The raising of money was brought into question and some of the candidates chose not to ask for any. I chose not to ask for any because everyone I know is just trying to make ends meet. As to who was telling the truth...You have to know Oakland and the players to answer that question.

As a mayoral candidate I was purposely blocked because I told the facts and truth. I forced the discussion from self grandstanding rhetoric to facts in this campaign....There were so many blatant lies being dished out along with credits that were never theirs, but did the papers question this? It is funny to hear my own words coming out of one particular candidates mouth.

The various papers chose to pick who they believed to be the candidates to choose from. They skewed information that could help inform their readers by not being honest and informative. Just like most of the survey's which were biased and misleading!

The other reality that is not being spoken about is who will actually run the Mayors office because the leadership is not really demonstrated by a few of the "front runners". The Chronicle should not be the only paper singled out. All the newspapers are guilty of poor journalism when it comes to informing in an open unbiased setting. To make the assumption that the readers of the various papers can't make up their own minds on who to vote for makes one ask "and who made you the sage on choosing which candidates where viable or not?"

Money and endorsements only means that you have a task master(s) to answer to. It is not the residents or voters who's vote you are asking for on November 4th and then forget about till election time rolls around again in two, four years or a special run-off election.

Re: “Should Oakland Fund a Homeless "Tent City"?

This is another way to spend tax dollars and continue to build the gross dollar amount that depicts Oakland's "waste". We have the highest amount of affordable (aka low income housing) in Alameda County. We have the most amount of criminal throw backs, other than possibly Los Angeles, that rule many of the neighborhoods in East and West Oakland. We have over 50% of this City tied up in Redevelopment and 25% set asides for affordable (aka low income housing). The Army Base should be the center of Oakland's future: with retail, industrial, biotechnical and other sales tax and job producing businesses. This is prime land!! We have to stop being the dumping ground for the County and the constant funding for the housing advocates that leach city dollars away from the badly needed services that we, the taxpayers, pay for. OPD has to be at full strength. OHA (Oakland Housing Authority), which oversees the largest "problem" citizen base in their scattered OHA units and Section 8 housing, needs to do their jobs and adhere to strict enforcement of the laws, we should put a moritorium on any more affordable housing in Oakland. The criminal activity is out of control and the citizens of Oakland are being held hostage. OHA units and Sect. 8 housing are the main magnets for crime. What is to say that this Tent City will not be the same catalyst that continues to keep employee based businesses or any business from locating here. The crime, drugs and lack of enforcement both by the different police departments, the District Attorney's Office and the Judicial Branch have made Oakland a City of Thugs, controlled by thugs!! The Liberals that keep wanting to "take care of" need a life!!! We, the taxpayers, need the services we pay for, fully funded and not abused by politicians that listen to a few and then screw the rest of us. Many of us pay our own health insurance which is out of control and if funding is going to be used for all these ideas, it had better not be my tax dollar. When are the politicians going to start addressing OVER POPULATION and stop blaming cows, cars and industry (which are part of Global Warming), start getting a REAL handle on why our Society is so screwed up and substance abuse is out of control. We have had 40 years of illegal border crossings, 4 generations of illiterates(thanks to the poor public school agenda's), and a love affair of bringing children into this world without a REAL plan for their future or if those having the children are really fit to procreate. We used to have tests prior to marriage for certain inherited problems or deseases, what happen to that system. I know Civil Rights gone rampant....Too many lawyers in this here pot!! There are Rights, Ethics and Common Sense! My vote is NO to the Tent City! San Francisco has tried all these tactics and nothing is working there. We can't handle the cards we have already been dealt!
