Oakland Vice Mayor Ignacio De La Fuente has decided not to run for mayor in the 2010 election. De La Fuente broke the news to Oakland Tribune reporter Kelly Rayburn, who then buried it in his story today about Don Perata's mayoral announcement. De La Fuente's decision is not surprising, considering that his longtime, close friend Perata has decided to run. And you gotta figure that if Perata is elected, De La Fuente will play a prominent role in the new administration. My money is on him becoming the next city administrator.
