Re: “Yelp and the Business of Extortion 2.0

I posted a negative review about a lasik place that really screwed up my eyes. This whole experience has cost me close to $10,000. I also posted a similar review about another another location - same chain. Had been to both numerous times and they advertise that both places do lasik. Heres the catch. They have them listed as two different types of businesses even though they are one and the same. One is listed as lasik, the other as optometrist but they are the same people doing the same thing. My reviews were removed for violating Yelps Content Guidelines. The best part is that the fake employee written reviews stand. They sent me an E mail saying I violated the Content Guidelines because my reviews were flagged by other yelpers. This is the biggest load of crap because who other than the merchant would flag the two reviews? One that is their name and the the other one which is their name followed by "lasik center". They want to keep that One with "lasik center" sqeaky clean and really dont care about the other as it all bad reviews. The point is in my opinion they are not reliable and not to bust on people who have no time, I really am not going to review something unless they are superb or in this case possibly blinding people. It almost happened to me and while yelp wants to keep my review off their site lets see what happens when I just post the one about the "lasik center". Then there is no way that I could possibly see it being against yelps content guidelines but lets see what they pull to get rid of it. If this stuff wasn't serious I really would'nt care. This is not some chinese restaurant
I am reviewing, I am reviewing a place where really bad things can and do happen. For the record I am not anti-lasik, I was just maimed by this place and put an honest review up and had them tell me I was in the wrong. Funny in a way. This is not the first time this has happened. To make a long story short a tree company cutting my neighbors maples let a branch fall and it almost took me out but it did mange to take out a section of my fence. When the owner gave me the run around about the fence I posted a bad review on superpages. He denied it and they wouldnt post it. When I had my insurance company take care of it he paid up. They point is they offer a SuperGuarantee which I know is fake. I was almost killed and my fence was destroyed yet when you look up that tree company there is nothing but glowing reviews. I know that is off the yelp subject but my point is that I take all those "review" sites with a grain of salt. As a matter of fact if the place has nothing but great reviews I tend to stay away. I really dont even look at them to tell you the truth. Cyberspace is no match for word of mouth but now I know that yelp is B.S. What a suprise!
