Re: “Can Birdland Take Flight in Its New Location?

The new Birdland 2.0 incorporates the down-home charm, the wonderful eccentricities, and the community feel of its former Berkeley location with ceiling height, a nice dance floor and a beautiful renovation job on its new digs. Now one of the best party scenes ever has evolved into a space where more peo0ple can see really great music and feel really good about it!

Re: “Turf, Toilets, and Parking

Deep into the canyon? All this plan does is remove some of the parking that clogs city street, so that families with young kids don't have to hike a half mile on a street without sidewalks to get to their picnic tables. EBRPD has done a great job of revitalizing Alvarado Park, and Wildcat Park is a jewel. The parking will be on already existing pavement, occupying 1 or 2 acres at the very edge of the 2430 acres you mention. Deep into the canyon? This is a plan that benefits everyone who doesn't live right next door to the park, benefits equestrians who have never had a place to park so that they can ride the trails in Wildcat, and benefits the disabled who will have better access to picnic areas designed for them. Nothing in this plan precludes further work on restoring the creek.
Oh and that triangle property that neighbors have proposed for conversion to parking is currently the location of 2 residences and a pre-school. How does demolishing a pre-school benefit anybody?
