Morgan Jerkins in Berkeley

Morgan Jerkins is a twentysomething, Ivy League-educated, Christian, Black feminist writer and a New York Times bestselling author. Writing at the intersection of Black womanhood in (white) America, Jerkins reclaims her time and her space, sharing her unique tales of Black girlhood, education, and the continued learning of a young Black person trying to both live in and change the world around them. Join her for a talk on her debut essay collection, This Will Be My Undoing: Living at the Intersection of Black, Female, and Feminist in (White) America, where she’ll discuss these topics and more. The deeply personal is political, and she’s down to explore — and share — it all, the expansiveness, limitations, and the multitudes that can be contained within the Black experience. With clarity and confidence, Jerkins speaks in a voice that is all her own, and that encourages you to listen, empathize, and show up with all of yourself, too.
