More Fun Chevron Follies

By now, you may have heard that an independent expert has recommended that Chevron pay indigenous Ecuadoran tribes up to $16 billion in compensation for land polluted by Texaco, which merged with Chevron some years back. The oil giant's representatives have denounced the ruling as part of an Ecuadoran government attempt at "extortion," according to Reuters. Meanwhile, Chevron execs are hard at work buying better PR; they've agreed to sponsor Tiger Woods' World Challenge Golf Tournament in Thousand Oaks! After all who cares about twenty years of environmental devastation when there's a birdie to sink?
