When a bride-to-be gets hit by an irradiated meteorite, she quickly grows to ginormous proportions. That gets her locked away in a secret prison where monsters like Dr. Cockroach, the Missing Link, B.O.B, and Insectosaurus are housed — essentially a B-horror super-team, with the 50 Foot Woman, the Fly, the Creature from the Black Lagoon, the Blob, and, well, some kind of Godzilla/Mothra hybrid. Their job, if they choose to accept it (and they do), is to battle an alien invasion that is significantly less successful at paying homage to B-movie classics. The result is a fun enough ride thanks primarily to the cast’s voice work, including Reese Witherspoon, Hugh Laurie, and Seth Rogen. Too bad the movie’s embrace-your-inner-freak message feels so clichéd these days (94 min.).
