With its seemingly endless plains and mountainscapes, Mongolia is a remote region of rare natural beauty that few Westerners get to see firsthand. At the Institute of East Asian Studies (2223 Fulton St., Berkeley) on Thursday, May 7, artist/calligrapher NarmandakhTsultem (whose work is currently featured in the IEAS Gallery) discusses traditional Mongolian painting. The event will also feature Mongolian music performances. 4 p.m., free.
