Re: “Albany: A Seething Caldron of Lust?

Some here have stated that the accuser isn't in it for the money, this is a criminal case: She went to the district first - if you wanted criminal action would you not go to the police? You think that there isn't a chance she will go for money after the criminal case is adjudicated? I was an abuse victim in the 60's - I went to my parents - immediately. They went to the school -immediately. I do regret that we did not go to the police first - this person may have gone on to abuse others - the school took administrative action and the teacher was enrolled in some type of program but may have been free to go back to teaching later on. As a former victim, I don't understand why this alleged victim did not come forward sooner. Fairness demands that even if her name is witheld, we should know more about her - has she ever been involved in a crime? Has she ever been party to a lawsuit? I think it is right to keep her anonymous if she wishes, but facts about her should be released as long as it does not reveal her identity. BTW the teacher that abused me was "cool" and you would have found dozens to support him - but he was a predator and gave me alchohol at 12 - being cool or a great teacher will only help in the sentencing phase and will(or should) have no bearing on guilt or innocence. Unless they have pictures or corroborating evidence, I am not sure this will stand up to trial. This teacher has already been found guilty in the press - the whole "innocent til proven guilty" thing is a farce in today's world.
