Multicultural arts education company Opera Piccola (meaning simply "small works," rather than the singapalooza people usually think of as opera) unveils its new traveling theater piece Mirrors of Mumbai: A Tale of Modern India.Set in Mumbai, the city formerly known as Bombay, SonalAcharya's play is based on interviews with Indian families and incorporates traditional and contemporary music (by composer in residence George Brooks) and dance to explore a struggling Indian family adjusting to globalization and accelerated societal changes. This is the second in Opera Piccola's "Urban Tales" series, after 2005's kids and seniors collaboration Being Something.March 8 at MalongaCasquelourdCenter for the Arts (1428 Alice St., Oakland) or 510-658-0967.
