Re: “I am Annoyed and Disappointed

Why am I not surprised? 15 years ago, I was "invited" to attend a landmark workshop. My sister, with whom I have always had, and still do have a rocky relationship insisted that I come. When I declined to pay the $250 for the next step up, my sister told me she was very disappointed in me and that she felt it would wound our relationship.
While I have seen Landmark do positive things for friends of mine, I have always felt creeped out by their pushy tactics. Their pop-psychology of getting into your head and teaching you how to rid yourself of your ego is done in a shocking, often embarrassing way. True believers of releasing ego, like Pema Chodrin, would not approve of the harrassment and the shame that is often associated with this organization.
It is a very specific kind of lingo that is used, the pressure to conform is immense and while I have often enjoyed the food at Cafe Gratitude, I confess that I have found that many of the wait staff (which change very often in the Berkeley location) have a holier than thou attitude.
