Members of the citizen anti-illegal-immigration brigade the Minutemen plan to come to an Oakland City Council meeting tomorrow to oppose Oakland's status as a "city of refuge." About a dozen local members mistakenly showed up too early last Thursday, which they blamed on "incorrect information provided by the city." The group will be met by members of BAMN, aka the Coalition to Defend Affirmative Action, Integration, and Immigrants Rights and Fight for Equality By Any Means Necessary, aka the group that has been declaring the "new civil rights movement" on the UC Berkeley campus since the mid-'90s. The counter-protest starts at 5 p.m. outside of city hall.
