Action/Adventure, Drama
Highly watchable costume drama relates the awakening of the 11th-century Tibetan Buddhist wise man Milarepa (subtitled for the film "Magician, Murderer, Saint"), whose young life was occupied by a thirst for vengeance against the people who stole his inheritance. Director Neten Chokling Rinpoche's narrative adaptation (with Tenzing Choyang Gyari) benefits greatly from the gorgeous location scenery of India's Spiti Valley in the Himalayas, and from the unforced magic realism of what is essentially a religious parable. Tibetan monk Jamyong Lodro stars as Milarepa, with Orgyen Tobgyal, Kelsang Chukie Tethtong, and Tashi Choedon Gyari. Produced in India and Bhutan.
