Sorry for joining this thread so late, but I'm researching a related question. Do 911 calls in Oakland get responded to quicker if made from a landline rather than a cell phone? This used to be the case, but I've heard isn't true anymore. Lots of folks in Oakland are hanging on to landlines and paying $40-60 per month for them, principally for that reason (I believe cell phone 911 calls used to be routed to the Sheriff). If there is no reason to keep them, we should dump our landlines. Thanks for any links or references to information in this area, specifically for Oakland.
