Re: “The Tipping Point

Pretty hilarious that some are still using the argument 'Others make more, so we have to cut these'.
The 'line cook' could easily become a 'Tip' waiter, there exists no 'unfairness'... except perhaps now city employees whom are no where near the 'restaurant' working model, will almost assuredly get the same raise...
All part of government fairness doctrine, lolol!

Re: “The Weed War Undermines Science

"At some point, these [business] folks will come across this information, so I want to make sure they know how to evaluate it critically and make thoughtful decisions about it."

At some point... some Doctors are going to point out that "business" folks of one area, ARE THE PROBLEM. To say, the Doctor isn't rocking the boat by pointing out the AMA involvement with the HHS-NIH-NIDA-ONDCP and Federal taxes going to "businesses" whom propagate the lies.
Nor does the Doctor place any responsibility in the different Government programs where it is entirely legal for those government programs to lie.. and in fact, required to lie, to fulfill their "Mandate".
Nor does the Doctor mention the illegal campaign contributions to State Official candidates for their Election Campaigns from Federal tax dollars.

I understand the Doctors fear of actually rocking the boat... and here... he is simply trying to 'steer the boat'. All the while understanding most of these for-mentioned paradigms in the Mj prohibition, which, if only the Doctors would come forward with, would take over the course of medically applied THC and Cannabinoids... away from the "businesses" that only wish to utilize the benefits, when and where and if... they chose.

Re: “US Attorney Melinda Haag to Continue Crackdown Despite White House Directive

She's shooting for the Big Time. Trying to go to the Show,. Somewhere, anywhere in the ONDCP hierachy, perhaps a Presidential appointee for a position in the DoJ, Nih or HHS. She's another attempting to be a 'rising star', at the to society.
She will likely get a promotion as there are always ONDCP constituents digging as deep as they can into the piles of horse manure of the morally bankrupt looking for someone to do their bidding.

Re: “Is Marijuana Legalization More Like Gay Marriage or Abortion?

I think some of the motivation for comparisons are from the percentage of participators that some believe is close to numbers in the U.S....
Many believe the numbers of users of Mj, on any basis, may be twice those wishing for Gay Marriage due to fear of exposure. Others believe, of fear for a number of Anti-Mj reasons, the number could triple as many might reduce participation in Alcohol(750 billion dollars of GDP activity) and reduce Pharma med intakes and the pipeline that provides the FDA drugs.

As 'official' #'s are about 10% of the population is seen as using Mj, 10% of mammals are 'gay', the numbers of Alcohol participators may be around 30%..(all on 'Adult' basis), it could be said that Mj users numbers are likely being estimated low @10%, and could rise close to 30%.

750 billion in the Alcohol industry would be hoping it is like a 'Gay marriage' scenario, but they realize their own drug/poison-alcohol commodity crosses all sexual preference, Pharma knows Mj crosses all income barriers(one can grow it at home).

It isn't a case of comparability to 'Gay. It is about industries not wanting competition and control through 50 Billion dollars of free tax dollars going to the ONDCP. For a drug war policy that Presidents must follow to get elected. 'Gay people' have no prohibition industry getting 50 Billion a year to keep them from 'marriage' nor does that, non existent Gay prohibition industry Cabinet Level Org, provide Election Campaign funding and Management as the ONDCP constituents do for every serious candidate and every single successful Presidential elected.

Comparing 'Gay' or "abortion' numbers might be a good starting point considering getting rights to participate in terms of votes, but it comes up way way, wayyyyy short in potential number of voters, would there be no 50 Billion dollars affecting those that do or do not want Mj participation to exist.

Re: “Letters for the Week of July 3, 2013

For those that will be around in 2060, enjoy the coming carbon taxation that will pay for the infrastructure to accommodate the water rise. Oh, by the way, 1.5 feet is a very modest rise expectation so 2060 might not be seen by most those whom think they actually might live long enough to see 2060.

Re: “City Unions: Wall Street Looted Oakland

Wait till people realize the same Libor manip affected Money Market accounts in this recession, giving little to no income to many, many retirees. Many of those retirees then needed to convert some of their accounts to live on... at a cost... giving Goldman and Associates(Primary Dealers to the Fed) even more profits! Then they, as the Advisory Panel to the Federal Reserve, gave themselves(and Foreign subs) 17 Trillion since 2008.
There is a reason the Banks(Primaries) are still making record bonuses, folks... this behavior is allowed by citizens giving away their influence on Policy by way of allowing Presidents to pander to the Banks. While without the Banks backing, a Potus position will not be filled, Americans are just lazy and stupid enough to stand aside, like their President, as the Banks manipulate the future wealth and wellbeing of every American.
One cannot feel sorry for the lazy and stupid.

Re: “Can Pot Help Cure PTSD?

If it is a cure, then it goes against all established practices of Big Pharma (no unending repeat customers).
