Michael Krasny

When: Thu., April 3, 7:30 p.m. 2008
Price: free

Even on the sanctified airwaves of National Public Radio, few on-air personalities have the pop culture acumen of KQED Forum host Michael Krasny. A well-practiced and long-established keeper of the zeitgeist, Krasny is hip to everything from the novels of Philip Roth and Nathaniel West to the inside baseball in San Francisco's City Hall. On Forum he has traded zingers with lesbian comic Marga Gomez, discussed experimental music with Pamela Z, and chopped it up with Italian philosopher Umberto Eco as naturally as someone turning to a fellow passenger on a first-class flight. Krasny will appear Thursday, April 3, at the Jewish Community Center of the East Bay's (1414 Walnut St., Berkeley) OffPage Literature Series to discuss his autobiography, Off Mike: A Memoir of Talk Radio and Literary Life. 7:30 p.m., free.
