Re: “Yelp Extortion Allegations Stack Up

I'm a business owner in the Bay Area and have experienced the disappearing positive reviews. It makes absolutely no sense, except in the world of Stoppleman and his thugs, to keep the reviews of frequent yelpers (those 'Elite' 20-something reviewers with no moral compass, without the faintest idea of right and wrong) while deleting after a few days those written by non-frequent reviewers.
There is a negative review of my business right now written by one of those 'Elite' thugs who never came to my business or used my service, writing a bunch of lies anonymously. Of course, as is standard practice for yelp, this one review is the first one anyone sees. Later reviews are always placed underneath this one. The bu owner is given just a few sentences to respond. The 'Elite' reviewer gets all the space he/she/it wants, to rant on and on about pure lies.
Last year, I got a call from a yelp sales person (or shakedown mobster) and I did not advertise on their site. Too expensive. And this "business" depends on advertising $ from hard-working businessowners while allowing negative reviews packed w/ lies to be the 1st thing anyone sees on the page?
No wonder yelp is still not profitable and never will be. What a twisted, demonic way to run a "business."
And as someone else wrote earlier, one can clearly sense the anti-business posture of these frequent yelpers from their page on the site.
I wonder if any businessowner has filed a complaint w/ the Better Business Bureau and what the result was? What if every bu owner who has been victimized by these BayArea mafiosi filed a complaint w/ the BBB?
That would probably, hopefully, put yelp out of business!
