Mehndi Workshop for Teens

When: Sat., July 19, 2 p.m. 2008
Price: free

Temporary henna "tattoos" -- aka mehndi, popular throughout India, North Africa, and the Middle East -- are usually drawn on the palms of the hands and on the feet, where they'll show up most vividly. They can last for months. At the Oakland Library's Asian Branch (388 9th St., Suite 190, Oakland) on Saturday, July 19, Subhashini Coburn hosts a mehndi workshop for teens, showing how to prepare and apply the designs. (Parental permission required.) 2 p.m.
