Meat Market

When: Thu., April 12, 9 p.m. 2012
Price: $5

It'll be a goofy garage-punk extravaganza on Thursday night; this bill is absolutely jam-packed with talent. Meat Market is the quickly up-and-coming act with a fuzzed-out sound derived as much from T-Rex as from Fifties and Sixties garage and blues rock. Likewise, Twin Steps is another dependably quirky garage-punk hybrid, celebrating its recently released album, the triumphant Serial Parade. Ever the crowd-pleaser, Oakland's Religious Girls will support, along with a couple other wild cards. Buffalo Tooth is certainly on the bluesier end, with uncanny traces of Zeppelin and The Doors in its DNA. And for those who grew up in the North Bay, Girls in Suede will also ring a bell -- it's the revival of a well-loved and widely celebrated high school band out of Santa Rosa. In its day it was both wacky and technically precise -- and a garage band in the truest sense. At Thee Parkside (1600 17th St., San Francisco) on Thursday, Apr. 12. 8 p.m., $6. TheeParkside.com
