Re: “Yelp and the Business of Extortion 2.0

I am a business owner in New York City and will happily join a class action suit against Yelp. I know of several happy clients who have posted positive reviews that disappeared after the first day of appearing. No, they are not frequent "Yelpers." Why would they be? They are busy people and don't have the time or inclination to write reviews of businesses online. They only wrote a review of my service as I had asked them if they would mind. I have several positive reviews but one pesky negative review that will not ever budge from the top. The problem for me is I have the type of business that is a huge ticket purchase. Not a restaurant that has hundreds of customers per week. I don't even have hundreds of customers per year. Each customer may spend $20,000 plus. So one negative review (which was bogus, by the way) can be extremely hurtful to a business such as mine. The whole thing is absolutely unbelievable and I cannot believe I cannot remove my business entirely. I don't need or want more customers driven to my business on Yelp. I want my business off Yelp!!! And, the worst part of it all, and I haven't noticed it written about on this board, is that Yelp's ranking with Google is very high. So if someone Googles my business, Yelp's link is right below my web site's. So, a customer can be searching for my business and happen upon the Yelp site and see the bad review even though they aren't "Yelpers." My attorney wrote a letter (cost me $500) and I got a form letter back about the internet freedom of information act or some hoo ha. I already know I lost at least one job (a $30,000 job by the way) because of the bad review. Someone needs to do something about this and fast.
