Re: “Yelp Extortion Allegations Stack Up

Our experience:
Yelp had presented itself to us as a straight forward, pure, no bs review web site.
Sounded new, honest and refreshing.
Not the case.
Since we started business we quickly piled up reviews everywhere and on Yelp.
And honestly, they are all good.
Once we reached about 15, we were contacted, very aggressively by someone from Yelp. 2 , 3 phone calls a day, emails and so on.
People kept writing reviews, we took our time on taking a decision and magically and regularly good reviews started to disappear.
More phone calls, more emails, we waited, more good reviews and more regularly
disappeared.
With time it became clear to us that, if we weren't going to agree to some sort of contract, good reviews where going to disappear, just because.
Now, I would understand a system that somehow filters some reviews, but one that systematically erases reviews everyday it's obviously aimed at frustrate the business owner and force them to agree to pay.
In fact the insistence of the sale person and THEIR frustration actually grew bigger
as once told not to contact us anymore, they agree to do that, but the next day
sent another email
Dishonesty and unfairness never took anyone or any company very far.
