Throughout the EastBay's history, that muddy place where the water meets the shore has been used for farming, quarries, and other purposes. At the Don Edwards San Francisco Bay National Wildlife Refuge (9500 Thornton Ave., Newark), "Marshland of Dreams" is a ranger-led tour of the LaRiviere Marsh Trail, focusing on wildlife and history. Meet at the LaRiviere Marsh trailhead, located in the first parking lot to the right on Marshlands Road. 9:30 a.m. FWS.gov/DESFBay
